Gnarls Barkley Cancels Tour Before Opener

The first Gnarls Barkley tour in 18 years ended before a single show. Every North American date is cancelled, Toronto included, and no reason has been given.

Gnarls Barkley Cancels Tour Before Opener

First Tour In 18 Years Ends Early

Gnarls Barkley To Whom It Still Concerns Tour has been cancelled in full, days before its scheduled opening night on November 5 at The Masonic in San Francisco. Pollstar reported the cancellation on October 30, with Ticketmaster notifying buyers that refunds would return to their accounts within 14 to 21 days. Multiple outlets reviewing the listings confirm every North American date now shows as cancelled.

Live Nation announced the run on September 18 as a nine city North American tour, billed as the first Gnarls Barkley tour in 18 years. The shows supported Atlanta, described as the third and final album from the duo, released in March through 10k Projects and Atlantic. No public explanation for the cancellation has been issued by the artist or the promoter.

Toronto Loses Its November 22 Date

For this city, the loss is specific. The tour was set to play HISTORY in Toronto on November 22, between a November 19 stop in Silver Spring, Maryland and two nights at Irving Plaza in New York on November 24 and 25. The full cancelled run also covers Los Angeles on November 7, Atlanta on November 10, Detroit on November 13, Boston on November 15, and a November 28 finale at House of Blues in Chicago.

One detail was already public before the cancellation and should not be misread as the cause. Producer Danger Mouse, real name Brian Burton, was never scheduled to perform on this run. His representative had clarified that the tour was always planned as a CeeLo Green led presentation of the duo music, with Burton permission to use the name. That arrangement was announced in September, weeks before the cancellation, and no report reviewed connects it to the decision.

What Ticket Holders Do Next

The practical side is simple. Ticketmaster buyers do not need to take action, as refunds for cancelled events are processed automatically to the original payment method, with the stated window of 14 to 21 days depending on the bank. Anyone who bought through a resale platform falls under that seller cancellation policy instead, which generally means a refund or account credit, so those buyers should check the notice from the platform they actually paid.

What remains unanswered is the why. A farewell framed tour tied to a final album does not usually vanish six days before opening without a word, and fans who waited eighteen years deserve a real explanation when one exists. Until CeeLo Green camp or Live Nation speak, the honest record is this. The tour is off, the refunds are set, Toronto November date is gone, and the reason is still unknown.
