Dominic Fike wrote "Babydoll" in 2018 as a throwaway demo. Eight years later, TikTok covers brought it back and it went to number one on Spotify worldwide. He didn't lift a finger.
Here's what that means for every artist reading this: your catalog is not a graveyard. It's a vault. Every song you've ever released is sitting there waiting for the right moment, the right trend, the right 15-second clip to wake it up.
Most artists I know are obsessed with the next drop and completely ignore the 50 songs already out. That's backwards. Post the old stuff. Put it on TikTok. Let people find it. You have no idea which one is about to have its moment.
The industry wants you chasing the next single. The internet rewards the deep cuts. Play accordingly.
